Why I’m All In to Help Dads Succeed

Hey Reader,

When I was starting out with my first ideas of what to do as a business—
I was looking to help troubled teenagers.
They felt hurt by the system and had a life of trouble.

One idea was to start a farm where they could learn
and feel a healthy routine and environment.
This idea was undoubtedly expensive.

Then I asked myself:
What would make the issue go away?

When I looked at all the troubled teens,
many of them had a pattern.

A lot of them had an absent father.
This means either:

  • They were raised by a single mom
  • Or they had a dad at home, but he’s barely there
  • Or they are gone for business
  • Or they have two/three jobs to keep the family afloat.

This observation hit home.

A lot of the trouble teens might not have so many troubles
if the dad was more present.

There was one more level to it as well:

I want to set myself up so that I could be a Present Dad.

Which meant:
I would need a way to make money to provide
while also being present for my family.

Having a degree in forestry and agriculture
and a love for scents,
I thought it would be great to start my own business.

The goal of the business would be to help dads be more present at home.

So I designed an outdoor program for more quality time with your kids.

Then another issue entered my recognition:
More quality time means dads need more time.

That’s why they liked the program but gave it to the moms.

That’s when I realized:

It is not about the kids.
It is about dads having time to be there.

That’s when the vision was born.

Why I’m in:
To become a Present Provider.
For dads to have time to lead their family well.

Keep chopping Wood!

  • Goal or Journey? Both!

Hey Reader, When I was in university, there was a big debate: Whether life was about the goal to achieve or enjoying living the journey. As a success-driven person, I always stated that the goal and the outcome matter most. Now that I hunted success for many years, I’ve noticed another pattern. If you don’t enjoy the process to get the success—success is falling short. You need to have goals because they serve as landmarks to give your journey a direction. That is something I have seen in…

  • From Busy to Effective with One Question

We are caught in everyday to-do lists. Some days feel like a golden cage. There are just enough urgent tasks on the list that you don’t immediately quit. I have also tried many fancy, long to-do lists. And the day had just started — and I was already chasing after it. I was running behind on every task. As soon as I deliver & finish my first activity on time. I already ran behind the rest. Even all the productivity hacks can’t help you. They are all good and well until something changes your…

Reflections on my 29th Birthday 10 years ago I made a decision. The decision was to study forestry. At the time I thought it would be the best way for me to lay the foundation for my future family. Reflecting back on that, it has been an amazing 10 years – totally not what I expected though. The biggest joy of those years has definitely been that I could marry my beautiful wife. Second to that is the birth of our son. This makes me now responsible for my family. I could also learn a lot about…

When it comes to pricing your offer (product or service), most get nervous. I did too. There is much pressure to get the price right. It also puts an expectation up for our clients. Not only that, we also need to drop the price in a conversation. In reality, most of our prices are taken out of the magician’s hat.We pick a number we like and stick with it. It feels nerve-wracking.Separated from reality. In reality, most entrepreneurs overprice or undercharge. Both of them don’t get you any…

  • How to Strive for Excellence

Hey Reader, I like to push myself to test my limits.Sometimes in the past, I’ve pushed myself too far. At 22, I almost had a burnout.I have stomach issues ever since. So: burnout is not really excellence. Striving for Excellence is like driving on a three-lane highway. You shouldn’t drive too fast and lose controland cross over into oncoming traffic. But you also shouldn’t drive too slowlyand steer off into the right side by pursuing perfection. Striving for Excellence has two limits: Don’t…
