SEO has changed forever

In the last three years we have seen many shifts in SEO.
What used to be a debate between white hat and black hat,
SEO is now a more fundamental question.

Since the entry of ChatGPT on the stage, there is a major shift happening.

Many folks try to hold onto the good old times
when you could win with 100 blog posts and that was your whole marketing strategy.

This landscape has shifted.

I have been part of the blogging community for a while, and it was scary to see the results of this change.

I have witnessed businesses die off in a matter of weeks because their traffic disappeared.
They made $10–12K per month and a week later they were happy to make $100.

This isn’t extreme. It was their reality.

These traffic-based businesses were dependent on Google search traffic to their articles.
They had one main traffic source.

Where is SEO going next then?
A lot of people try to read the direction it’s going, but it’s harder than it looks.

Google is changing fast.
The introduction of AI Overviews has also had an impact.
The introduction of AI Apps also changes how searches are done.

We will see what will happen over the next 5 years.

One thing that is for sure is:

SEO has changed forever.

The danger of having one core traffic engine has proven to be a major danger.

Going forward, we need to be careful to not become platform-dependent.

We must build a sustainable business for the long run.
The key: be on as many platforms as you can to always have backups.

New is better than better Don’t try to beat your competition by being better than they are. Don’t try to win at their game. Be a new opportunity. Challenge the standard. Create something new. • Strive for Excellence not Perfection

Strive for Excellence not Perfection How often do we freeze up and can’t go forward, because something we have created isn’t good enough – isn’t perfect? Way too often. I have spent so many hours trying to perfect something. Our goal is often completion, or perfection. Reaching the 100%. It seems like it is always escaping us. I want to challenge the idea of perfection. We should strive for excellence. Doing something not for 100% perfection, but rather to a 90% excellence. Perfection keeps…

So: burnout is not really excellence. Striving for Excellence is like driving on a three-lane highway. You shouldn’t drive too fast and lose controland cross over into oncoming traffic. But you also shouldn’t drive too slowlyand steer off into the right side by pursuing perfection. Striving for Excellence has two limits: Don’t…

  • The Effective Man is a Dangerous Man

Hey Reader, What’s the difference between a dog and a wolf? You might say one is tamed while the other is a wild animal. You might say one is a pet and the other is dangerous. Those are true. But here’s one more interesting observation. When I was studying wild life, I also studied wolves. There is a major difference in how a wolf and a dog move. It is one of the best differentiators for their tracks: The dog strolls while the wolf strides. When you observe a dog, he goes from tree to tree….
