How to Strive for Excellence

Hey Reader,

I like to push myself to test my limits.
Sometimes in the past, I’ve pushed myself too far.

At 22, I almost had a burnout.
I have stomach issues ever since.

So: burnout is not really excellence.

Striving for Excellence is like driving on a three-lane highway.

You shouldn’t drive too fast and lose control
and cross over into oncoming traffic.

But you also shouldn’t drive too slowly
and steer off into the right side by pursuing perfection.

Striving for Excellence has two limits:

Don’t follow perfection. Don’t follow the hustle.

What are the three lanes?
We have:

  • Quantity
  • Quality
  • and Time.
Excellence is achieved when we do one thing often.
It requires mastery.

Excellence is achieved when:

  • You improve from feedback.
  • It’s been moving from good to great.

Excellence is achieved over time.
You can’t rush your way to it.

Striving for excellence is being active.
It’s not achieved passively.
You can’t do it reactively.

It is only through practice — doing what you can, fully.

It also takes deliberate planning.
Sometimes it means taking a step back,
analyzing what you’re doing,
and re-prioritizing.

As this shows, it is about denial.
It means to follow one path boldly,
but also to still take one step at a time.

You’re not in a rush.
Because Excellence, the way I understand it,
is actually never fully achieved.

There is a lifelong striving.
Excellence is achieved when we meet our Creator in heaven.
Then will Excellence meet perfection.

Until that day — it will be fully unfinished.

Hey Reader, In business, we are often tempted to jump on big trends. We often feel like we’re missing out if we don’t. Especially at the beginning, it’s hard. The question is: how do you get started? You should go where the fish are. Don’t blindly follow the advice of the fishermen. The fish is the spot, not the fishermen. The rest will follow long after. A friend and I went fishing together. When we arrived at the lake, it was often that way that others were leaving. So you just lost. Ash…

  • Your Industry Doesn’t Matter

Hey Reader, I have seen this topic a lot on X/Twitter. There is an issue I see in how many businesses start: They start with the topic or industry first. This is easy—because you don’t need to put a lot of thought into it. But there’s a big flaw. I don’t want to be known in an industry.I’d rather be known to my people. On first sight, it seems like there is no difference. But when you dive deeper—there is a large difference. When you’re known as a Fitness Coach, writing a book might be still…

  • A Morning Routine Won’t Save You

Hey Reader, Recently, a video went viral on TikTok.One Hustle Bro was showing off his morning routine.I’m not sure whether it was his actual morning routine (which I doubt) or if it was just staged. The full routine displayed in the video took him 5.5 hours.Five and a half hours. That’s just insane. You won’t get anything done by doing his morning routine. • Nervous about Pricing your offer? Do this!

When it comes to pricing your offer (product or service), most get nervous. I did too. There is much pressure to get the price right. It also puts an expectation up for our clients. Not only that, we also need to drop the price in a conversation. In reality, most of our prices are taken out of the magician’s hat.We pick a number we like and stick with it. It feels nerve-wracking.Separated from reality. In reality, most entrepreneurs overprice or undercharge. Both of them don’t get you any…
